NEW 150+ Backer Reward UNLOCKED! Backers Choice Design #4 Poll NOW LIVE! NEW VARIANTS now available!
about 2 months ago – Sun, Feb 08, 2026 at 04:30:08 PM

FOUR DAYS LEFT! 2 NEW STRETCH GOALS UNLOCKED!

The poll for Armored Komodo Dragons has closed and the winner is... Antique Silver Skull !

This design will be refined into a pin and added to the campaign soon, including updating all-inclusive tiers to show this reward. The Ancient Cave Cheetahs poll is STILL GOING, so if you haven't voted for a pose yet please do!

NEW Stretch Goal UNLOCKED: 150+ Backers!

Thank you all for your support of this project! Now that there are over 150 project backers, each pledge will come with a BONUS Science is Bitchin' sew-on patch. This patch design is inspired on my classic Science is Bitchin' pin that was made as a reward for the first Famous Dogs of Medicine & Science campaign.

The patch itself will have a new metal font and updated dog design, but don't worry, he'll still have his goggles for protection. Lab safety is important! These pins will be available as an add-on in the backerkit poll once the campaign ends.

NEW Stretch Goal UNLOCKED: Backer's Choice Design #4!

At time of writing this update the campaign is at $6,994 in funding so I feel comfortable unlocking Backer's Choice stretch goal design #4! With your help we've unlocked  Sweet Ethiopian Wolves, Ancient Cave Cheetahs, Armored Komodo Dragons, and now one more design. Due to the campaign ending in just 4 short days, this poll series is on a tight timeline and this first poll will be closing TOMORROW

NEW Variants Added to the campaign

I wanted to make sure the people who voted for variants in the first Variety VS Variants poll would have some additional colorways to choose from. The following variants are available, and of course included in complete reward sets. To add them to your pledge, select the design as an add-on then you will indicate the variant of your choice once the campaign ends via the rewards survey:

Service dogs come in many shapes and sizes, these variants allow more specific selection in coat color when you fill out your survey!

In addition to the 'black' tigers in the campaign, there are also two named historic white tigers I discovered in my research! Popsy ( 'Queen of Cat Canyon' ) was a pseudo-melanistic white tiger that lived in The Cincinnati Zoo who lived to the impressive age of 22, exceeding the expected lifespan of 15-20 years. Artico is the most recently recorded rare "stripeless" white tiger; born in Spain's only wildlife recovery center, he was eventually sent to live in Las Vegas as a part of the now closed Mirage White Tiger Habitat.

Bat Harmony Deluxe pins also have new variants available! Silver metal with blue and green details for the Spring Migration variant to compliment the autumnal colors of the original Gold: Sunlight variant. The third variant is inspired by the Gothic aesthetic that draws so much from its architectural namesake paired with contemporary red and purple undertones.

Thank you all again for your support of this project, I hope you like all the new additions!

Ancient Cave Cheetahs Pin Style TIE-BREAKER! Poll Result #2:
about 2 months ago – Thu, Feb 05, 2026 at 03:32:54 PM

I can't believe it was so close again but with the split of votes between the two polls the winner is Deluxe Chained Pin Set ! This option will have a design poll up through this weekend, with the final pin artwork displayed next week. These pins are available to add to your pledge now!

With so many votes between this and the last poll for the set, this outcome makes sense to me. I'm so excited to sketch out the variant options for these fast bois!

Even though the designs aren't finalized, I have added the Ancient Cave Cheetahs Deluxe Chained Pin Set to both pledge levels and add-ons. If already know you know you're going to want them, you can add them now! B Grades are also available in limited quantity as both pledge levels and add-ons. If you are pledged to an inclusive tier you will now see this set listed among your rewards. You can add-on one set for $50 in the variant of your choice, or add all 3 variants for the even further discounted price of $115!

Here are the options to choose from for the Ancient Cave Cheetahs poses:

Armored Komodo Dragons Poll LIVE!
about 2 months ago – Wed, Feb 04, 2026 at 01:14:14 AM

Poll #3: Armored Komodo Dragons Sketch

Having hooked, serrated teeth is one thing, but these lizards have the teeth of dinosaurs. Theropods, like Tyrannosauridae also have what's called ziphodont teeth but theirs were just enamel and dentine. These serrated teeth were likely what made them and other 'super-carnivores' so successful, and the iron coating of Komodo dragon's teeth makes them exceptionally impressive! (Which is to say scary. These lizards can grow to be up to 10 feet long and 330 pounds with sharp claws and powerful forearms. Nightmare creatures. I love them.)

While I was searching for reference photos for this design I found another study about Komodo Dragons and their armor-like osteoderms! I've combined both concepts in these two designs, highlighting both their teeth and the chain mail-like osteoderms under their scales. That's right, in addition to basically having saw teeth, they have armor scales! They develop in adult Komodo dragons when they are no longer of a size able to escape other dragons up trees, and instead must fight. The more I learn about them, the more I think these creatures have the most accurate name. That's a freakin' dragon.

Sketch design option A: Silver metal pin with recessed skull, screen-printed eye & osteoderms (headshot)

Sketch design option B: Antique silver metal pin of a 3D skull with printed osteoderms (skull only)

Polls #1-3 CLOSED - RESULTS INSIDE
2 months ago – Sun, Feb 01, 2026 at 06:16:21 PM

Poll Result #1: Licking Nectar Design wins!

I've been working on this pin design as it's slowly lead the poll results over the weekend. The pin will be added to the campaign on 2/2! You can add this pin to your pledge as a standard enamel pin. Important! Pledging to the Ultimate Collector, Complete Enamel Pin Set (Standard & Deluxe), or Enamel Pin Set tiers WILL INCLUDE THIS PIN AT NO ADDITIONAL COST. In other words, as stretch goal pins are added to the campaign, inclusive tiers will not go up in price but will include more rewards. This is also true for the Complete Sticker Set tier. Each design will have a matching sticker made and the Complete Sticker Set tier will include ALL stickers from the campaign with no change to the pledge tier price. This pricing is EXCLUSIVELY available to Backerkit backers, as without your support these pins would not exist!

Poll Result #2: TIE

The Deluxe Headshot option technically won by 1 vote, but as there were fewer than 40 total it felt too close to call. There is now a second poll up to determine the direction of the pin(s). The variants for these pins will be the same across either option, so this poll is only to determine the composition (Headshot VS Full body Set).

Poll Result #3: Iron-coated Komodo dragon teeth and the complex dental enamel of carnivorous reptiles

In 3rd place, our tool using cow, 2nd goes to noisy sharks, and in 1st place we have the iron-toothed Komodo dragon! I'm very excited to draw some lizards, especially these guys!
